How to take advantage of max resolution ?

I have a ViewSonic VG2030WM 20.1" widescreen monitor and I am running an eVGA 256-P2-N624-AR GeForce 7900GS 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 KO Video Card. I purchased both with the vision of utilizing the native resolution of 1680 x 1050 of the monitor for superior display which also includes a DVI connection.

The problem is that when I set my monitor settings to 1680 X 1050, icons and text are so small that it is difficult to read. Since I am a newb when it comes to these things I was hoping someone could make a suggestion how to take advantage of the high resolution but retain the readable text and icons.

I am presently resigned to work with a setting of 1024 x 768 which is far from the native resolution, in order to have legibility for these old eyes.

Right click on the desktop and click "Properties". Jump to the Appearance tab and under font size, bump to large or extra large fonts. That should help with the icons. You can also increase text size in your browser under the View menu.

Not to sound harsh, but it is another option; Have you considered glasses for the computer?
