EVGA 8800 GTS problem.

Just installed a new EVGA 8800 GTS, replacing a PNY 7600. Downloaded the latest DirectX 9 drivers. Ran Grand Theft Auto Vice City and experienced flashing background images and sputtering performance. Something's obviously wrong, never had those problems with my previous card. I emailed EVGA support and they wrote I didn't have the correct drivers, go download them at the Microsoft site but they were wrong, I think. I had already done that and do have the latest drivers. I am waiting for a follow-up answer but I don't know if they've blown me off. Any suggestions on what the problem might be?

A few details:

Have you tried the latest nVidia drivers for your card? I would not download hardware drivers from Microsoft, all too often installing those will result in unwanted side effects. HTH

Which POWER SUPPLY do you use? Could we have detailed specs on your system?
