8600m gt vs 7600gt
I'm thinking about getting a notebook this summer, either a macbook, or a macbook pro. Currently I have a socket 939 AMD X2 4200+ with a 7600gt. Would the new macbook pros with their core 2s and 8600m gt beat out my rig in gaming? If it does, I would lean more toward the macbook pro. If not, I'll probably be getting the macbook. Thanks.

If were comparing both with the same amount of ram..
The 8600m and the 7600 would probably perform very closely to each other. The mobile versions are crippled down so that they consume less power and put out less heat. But the 8600 will give you dx10 capability which could be a good advantage if you ever install vista on the laptop.

So the two cards would perform about equally when it comes to DX9 games?

yeah, close. But you will want the DX10 for the future.
But your rig might still win. Mobile processors are slower. But you woul really have to test it. here is a benchmark...but its really not all that great for comparison because its probably not the same parts as a macbook pro: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=126095

Thanks guys. I'll probably just pick up the macbook, because I can just upgrade my video card in my desktop if I want those DX10 graphics.
