VIVO -- two questions

Well, one question about VIVO and one about audio. My video card (Radeon X1900GT) has VIVO capabilities, with composite and S-Video in. But...I have no idea on how to get it to work. I did a bit of Googling and couldn't find anything (probably could have if I digged a little bit deeper, but since I had another question I figured I'd just post here).

So, I hook the VIVO adapter into the port on the video card slot. I'm trying to connect a composite input, so I stuck the composite input into the composite-in cable. But now what? How do I actually get the image to display on the screen?

And I've also got a question about audio. Is there any splitter of some sort that would allow RCA to be plugged into the computer, with the audio being output on the speakers? I'm sure there are, I just don't know where to start looking. ^^;;

I haven't built with the 1900, but have you installed all the software and utilities that came with the card? Typically you need to open the applet to get special features to work.

You can get something like the below at your local Radio Shack to accept RCA to you sound card's line in:

The card didn't come with any VIVO software, as far as I can tell. And I can't seem to find any on ATI's website.

What is it that you're trying to 1) display on the monitor and 2) what audio are you trying to connect?

Just in general, but say, for instance, GameCube composite video in addition to RCA audio.

On that page under the "Connectors" heading it says:

"9-pin S-video and composite video input and output"

I am beginning to think you need the original CD to get anything to work:

ATI Multimedia Center™ found herein is provided as an UPDATE to previous versions included on original installation CDs for supported products. The software should not be downloaded or used for products that did not ship with ATI Multimedia Center.

I've installed a fair number of ATI's AIW series, but not one with just VIVO like your 1950, so I'm a little stuck here.

Anybody else have an ideas??

AVIVO is a video converter -- doesn't really have anything to do with VIVO, oddly enough.

So I need some video capture software. I've looked around, and I tried a few things. I can get a signal going (not correctly, I'd need to do a bit more fiddling) but there's a problem: these are generally used for actually capturing the video (to, say, record VHS tapes to a DVD) and have horrible resolutions. I'm looking to actually WATCH these things on the computer.

Bah. I really wish there was some substantial info out there.

Then again, maybe VIVO isn't really meant for this purpose...which sucks, because I didn't read any site anywhere that said anything to that effect.

Did you try Windows Movie Maker? I know you have that at a minimum app that is capable. Your VIVO is a capture device. Check it out if you have not done so, this being a late post and you have not posted that you have succeded in your VIVO quest.

*sigh* The problem is with all of these programs is that they are really meant to CAPTURE low-quality versions of video. I just want to watch them on my computer.
