Dell GX620 Desktop USB PCI Card Help Please...

I have a Dell GX620. It is a Desktop version, NOT the Mini-Tower or the USFF. This pc has a place for 2 or 3 PCI type cards in the back. I know these are not full size PCI cards. It's PCI e or PCI e x16. Something like that.

This PC only has 5 USB ports in the back and I am currently using all 5 of them. I want to put a USB PCI card in it to give me approximately 4 to 6 more USB Ports.

I'm just unsure of exactly which card I need for this model of pc. I had already ordered a PCI video card in the past and it ended up being the wrong one. I've googled this several times, but I just can't seem to find a concrete answer.

I was hoping someone could tell me exactly what kind of card this machine uses.

A link to one on newegg would be awesome as that is more than likely where I will buy it.

As always, all help appreciated, especially you glc.

Can you just use an external USB hub (with independent power supply!) to do the job that you want the PCI card to do? Or is it essential that these USB devices are plugged directly into your computer?

I can buy a USB hub, but I don't want that stuff hanging out the back of my pc. I prefer a card so I can plug straight in the back of the pc.

I found this on newegg and I think it is what I need, but I am unsure.

Plus this only has 3 USB Ports. 3 would be the bare minimum I would have to have, but I would prefer a card with 4-6 ports. Otherwise I would have to buy 2 of these cards to create 6 ports. :-(

According to this you should have one PCI slot available.

The one you linked to should work but there are others with 4 ports and bit cheaper.

The PCIe cards are considerably more expensive.

If nothing else I would just do what alanebro82 suggested and use a external hub.

I don't want a USB Hub. If I wanted one, I would have already bought that anywhere.

Ok, so we have no determined that the PC has 1 regular PCI slot and 1 PCI e x 16 slot

I know the card has to be low profile as the Desktop model is small form factor and the slot in the back of the pc is only approximately 3 inches long.

The only low profile cards I have found are 2 or 3 port.

Link me to where you found one with 4 or more please.

Well with the low-profile requirement I highly doubt you will find anything larger than 3 external ports due to physical size limits.

Well, it ain't pretty, but we had to add a NIC to my GX620 at work.

We put a standard PCI card in the slot. And broke off the part of the mounting bracket that was too long. Bend bend bend bend, eventually it breaks.

If you need the extra ports, and the card won't fit ... it can be made to fit.
