Should I wait?

Wantig to be ready for the first batch of DX10 games, I was thinking about changing my existing card with a DX 10 compliant card. However, I don't have a lot of funds so I was thinking about buying a "value" DX10 card, namely, a 512MB Radeon HD 2600 XT. However, I've been reading that these cards are not really that good ad might not be able to run the new games very well. Is that true? Is there no hope with those of us with an under $150 budget?

BTW, I was thinking about upgrading also because my card (A radeon X800 GTO) doesn not have any support for games such as DIRT or Splinter Cell DOuble AGent, but I would like to be able to run crysis "decently".

Thanks

I would. Prices will drop in as time goes on, plus that'll give you more time to save up. I'm still running an 800 and don't plan on upgrading anytime soon. DX10 game will not be out for a while and / or there won't be too many for a while longer.

yeah you might as well wait until a DX10 game comes out that you want. By then you will be able to buy a much better card for your money. Buy one now and by the time an awesome DX10 game comeso ut you may be wanting to buy another one.

Was in the same boat as well. I originally thought that BioShock and Crysis were comming out 2 weeks appart (August and September), but now they changed Crysis to late November. My rig is old though, and I was too far into researching my upgrade to stop. I do suggest you wait though.

Yes I think I will wait. I bught another gig of RAM (not much difference though) and made the switch to Vista (business).

I might change my processor. I have an athlon 64 3200+ but newegg has some 939 processors in stock. An X2 4200+ for abou US$85 seems like a good deal....bu will I see the improvement?

I went from a 3700+ to a X2 4800+ and liked the different, but then the second core does play a big part in that. I know can do some movie crunching and still use the computer. Heck, once I forgot I was crunching a movie and played an older game!
