Specific Video Card Recommendation

I originally posted a thread under "Video Card Coice" but had a brain spasm after the replys were recieved that may change the recommendations.
In brief. I need to match CPU, mobo, and V card. I have settled on an E6750 and a P5K. It was suggested that the following in order
8600GTS
2600XT (GDDR3 version)
8600GT
What I failed to note is my resolution will be 1920 x 1200. I don't know how much difference this may make but I think I should be looking more at the 8800 series due to the resolution. As well, I note in Tom's Hardware that the 8600 series are moderate priced but less than moderate performance. My main purpose is home entertainment (tv, dvd, audio, burning, webcasts, etc) with a minor amount of gaming. If I can save money yet still accomplish my aims more bang for the buck.

Thanks in advance.

At that resolution + Gaming = 8800GPU.
Anything below that would be madness. And get the 640mb version as well. bigger res = more memory needed

Minor gaming? Don't waste the money on a 8800. A $100 card will do what you need just fine.
