Angry Fire Upgrading video card_support help

I am trying to upgrade my video card on my Sony Vaio Model Pcv-Rs710G. My processor is a pentium 4 3ghz and I have upgraded to 2g Ram. Also my P/S is Delta electronics model DPS 266AB A only 2.66W Max. Right now I have a Ge force 5200 128bit DDR with an 8x agp. I have Pci expansion slots but I am not sure If these slots will support an upgrade. I would like to upgrade to 8600 or 8800 but don't know if these will be compatible with my system. Also don't know if DDR2 or Gddr is compatable. Please help!

Nope - AGP is the best you can do. PCI is a lot slower than AGP. AGP has now been replaced with PCI-Express - a totally different animal than your legacy PCI slots. I doubt that your power supply can handle a much stronger card than you presently have, but the data you have provided is not correct. Please post the exact power supply manufacturer and model. The type memory *on the video card* has nothing to do with the rest of the system.

Thanks GLC I added my P/S model number, and i got that output total from the label on the supply. it says DC Output Total 266.2W max. From what you said it sounds like I will only be able to upgrade to AGP connection cards. Do you have any thoughts on the Radeon x1950.

No way with that power supply - 266 watts is even marginal for the card you have.

I'd go higher. Sparkle/FSP/Fortron is a good brand.
