Media Player Problem
This morning, my computer was working fine - no problems...somehow, thoughout the day, it decided to sabotage itself. I came home this afternoon, and it can no longer play audio or video files. When I try to open a song or video with windows media player, I get the message
"Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct." When I try to open the files with other players, such as itunes, I get no error message, and the player says the song is playing, but there is no audio. Audio from other programs works as normal, so I don't think it'd be a problem with my sound card or speakers. When I try to play a video, such as an mpeg, I get the same reactions. Occasionally, a video will actually play, but there is no audio with it. I'm using vista home premium. On a side note, I'm noticing one other weird thing going on - the little network indicator in the bottom right of the toolbar is saying that I am not connected to the internet (two computers with a red X over them), but my internet is working perfectly. I don't know if they're connected somehow... Thanks for any help |

Well I seem to have fixed it. I messed around with the sound settings, and WMP was apparently trying to manage my sound card software or something. I disabled that, and it all works now...I still get that internet indication saying I'm not on the internet when I am, though.
