Pci Express 2.0

what is this? im thinking about getting a 8800gt, but it says PCI EXPRESS 2.0 does my mobo support this?

I went to the Asus website and it looks like that mbd is a PCIe 1.1 board.

PCI E 2.0 is compatiable with all the other PCI E formats

I think right now there is only liek one board that has 2.0 PCIe ja? ASUS Maximus something model.

The new Intel X38 chipset supports 2.0, but a 2.0 card will work fine in a 1.x board, it's like putting an AGP8X card in a AGP4X board. It's going to be a while before there will be a measurable difference in performance, nothing uses the full bandwidth of 1.x yet.

ok then imma go any buy a 8800gt on friday, should i stick w/ evga or go with another brand?

Evga is recommend throughout this forum
but you won't have any issues going with the other brands..
i would go with the Evga version
