Driver Installation
Every computer Ive worked on.....whether onboard video or not.....If I format the computer and reinstall windows the video card will work without the drivers.....although very poorly. Which, allowed me to install the right video drivers. I put a friends harddrive in my computer and formatted it/installed windows. When I put it back in her computer though.....my monitor doesnt see it. It says check analog source (LCD Monitor with both DVI and VGA connections). So now the harddrive is back in my computer and I was wondering if I could install drivers for that computer whilst on mine....and how to install them. I already have Zip files for both the video and network card....but they dont include and .exe or .msi files.In the zip for the network card there is a .bat and when I run it a dos box pops up and scrolls through something really fast then closes....less than a second open. As for the video card, theres a bunch of .OS2 some .dsc ,.dsp, .cid and two .cmd ......I can kind of read the prompt but all I see are ".... is not recognized as an external or internal command..."

If nothing shows up at boot, it has nothing to do with drivers or Windows. Make sure the card is fully seated and is comaptible with the pc. If the PC has onboard video the image might be displaying there, plug the monitor in there and see if it shows up.

ha, alright the video card wasnt fully in....feel kind of stupid for that..... Now, it doesnt say check analog source but it just shows a black screen and the power LED on the monitor flashes. Im going to try another monitor tomorrow......

I put a new card into a different slot (even different type) and I still see black screen. My only guess would be motherboard issues.....but the hard drives sounds like it goes through the boot up process. Really loud then slowly quieter.....I'm freaking lost.

I would never put a, for example PCI-E 16x card in a PCI slot. You are asking for trouble. but I think I would try a different card, you may have damaged that one.

I didnt put an AGP in a PCI slot or vice versa. The original card was AGP so I tried a PCI card. Different card and different slot. But it turns out it was the power supply......
