I am building a comp for the first time...I would like to know exactly what the pluses are and how important PCI-Express 2.0 is. I do plan on playing games and working with hi-res photos and video taken with family camera.
I am willing to spend the extra bucks for MoBo that supports it, if it is worth it and I will utilize it. Thanks! Here are the parts for my build...My question is aimed at what MoBo I should go with? I think? Should I swap the MoBo I have below for one that supports PCI-Express 2.0 x 16? I do not plan on SLI or Crossfire...But I may be adding a TV Tuner Card in the future? ***ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard ***BFG Tech BFGE88512GTOC2E GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail ***ABS Tagan BZ Series BZ700 ATX12V / EPS12V 700W Patent Piperock Modular Power Supply - Retail ***Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor Model BX80562Q6600 - Retail ***Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model BL2KIT12864AL804 - Retail ***Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM ***LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA Model LH-20A1L-06 Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate DVD - Retail |

PCI-Express 2.0 is just a bandwidth upgrade so we can have faster video cards in the future. Right now, you would never notice a difference. Plus, PCI-E 2.0 video cards are backwards compatible. I wouldn't worry about it.

Another question...I was just checking out a review on the NV 8800GTS, which card would you go with?
The NV 8800GT or the 8800GTS? |

8800gts 512 performs slightly better then the 8800gt. It also costs a bit more though.
