No video on second monitor

Hello,
I have an NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 video card with digital and vga outputs.
The screen plugged into the vga is working fine but the second screen plugged into the dvi output with analog adapter has no video. The second screen is communicating because the model information appears in the nvidia control panel. This is the first time I have tried to run two monitors.

How can I get the video to appear on the second screen?

Please help!

Have you gone into display properties and set up the second monitor?

Right click your desktop. Select your new monitor in the settings tab, then check the box that says extend my windows desktop to this monitor.

Thank you for your responses.

I believe I did everything correctly so far including trying to extend my desktop in the settings tab.

My second monitor is not listed in the device manager or in the display properties settings tab but instead it says "Plug and Play Monitor on NVIDIA GeForce4 TI4200." The model number of my primary monitor is listed in all applicable sections. Perhaps I missed something? I did go through the troubleshooter in the display properties section.

However, the second monitor is listed in the NVIDIA control panel info.

My computer only has a monitor hookups on the video card and the two monitors I am using are different.

Thanks!!

So when you do what amdalex said it still didn't work?

In the setting tab of display properties it should show two visuals of two monitors. Click on the one not highlighted and extend the desktop.

It showing Plug and Play is normal. Both of mine are listed that way.

My computer is behaving like the second monitor is there, with windows opening on the second monitor and my mouse will scroll off the right of the primary screen but there is no video present on the second screen.

Both monitors work if I set my comp up to use only one monitor.

I did update my video card driver before I tried using the dual monitors.

I am lost....

Maybe try pressing the input or source button on the second monitor and see if you get anything.

Send a message via AIM to Alaron
Try switching the monitor's connections on the card.

It sounds like the input of your other monitor is not set right, does it have both VGA and DVI inputs? If so you may have the monitor set to VGA input.

Either monitor works if I set it up as the primary monitor. One monitor has DVI and VGA and the other only VGA. I am using an adapter to go from DVI to VGA because I lost my DVI cable.

I think it is something with my settings or video card and that it just won't work. I will try and find my DVI cable and see if that makes a difference.

I have updated the monitor and card drivers to no avail.

If I use a TV as a second monitor through the video card S cable hookup I can see the second screen image on the TV.

Thanks for the help either way!
