quick SLI question about the Bridge Connector
Quick SLI question about the Bridge Connector
Looking at SLI Video cards, None of them seem to talk about coming with the Bridge Connector. So if I buy 2 separate cards, and this is just so I know, would they both come with a Bridge Connector to make them SLI? If I buy just one SLI card and plan to run it in single mode, anything speical I need to do? Wondering if I buy one card now and 6 months later buy the same card to SLI it, just making sure I won't have any trouble getting the Bridger.

In my experience, the motherboard supplies the bridge, and not the video cards themselves. I could be wrong, but with my sli setups, Abit and Asus have provided the bridge packaged with the board.

Usually the motherboard will come with the SLi bridge, but some card manufacturers will supply them with the card. All current nVidia Geforce cards are compatible with SLi, so nothing needs to be done for single card operation, just put it in.

Just to let you know not all GPU's need SLI connectors. Some connect directly through the motherboard and don't have the bridge wire on top. BUT they do still "SLI-up". The bridge configuration is for higher voltage cards that need to spread the mhz out more evenly instead of heating up the slots.

That is good to know, however, these cards do have the connector up top.
I am actually currently installing win XP now. going to get it setup, then borrow the second card for a few days and try SLI out, before I put the second one in the second computer. If that confused anyone, the reason why is in another thread. building 2 computers with one Video card each, both have identical Video cards, so I can SLI them later in the 2nd computer, when I upgrade video in mine.
