The resolution of a HDTV in the 26" range is 1280 x 720 or 1366 x 768 both of which are lower than the resolution of a 19" monitor which has 1440 x 900 resolution. The monitor should help you somewhat, but your HDTV should work fine too. I'm guessing that you are using either S-Video or Composite, since 1024x768 is the max resolution you can get on those, have you tried connecting using a Component or HDMI cable?
