How do I play music through all speakers?
Hi all!
I've got a Yamaha Amp and 5.1 Sound System and a SoundBlaster X-Fi PCI Sound Card. Using Windows Media Player, does anyone know how I play my music through all the speakers instead of the current 2 speakers and sub-woofer? All the speakers work ok and my PC is configured for the 5.1 system. TIA. Colin.

I would think it is a setting on your stereo, not the PC.

No that can't be right.
In the Creative Sound Blaster control panel, when I do a test on the speaker system a womans voice correctly goes round the speakers saying... Front Left Front Right Rear Left Rear Right Front Centre Boing!!! All the speakers work correctly, when it comes to WMP as I said, it just plays through the front speakers and sub woofer. |

If the source is stereo, then by default the system will play stereo. There has to be a simulated surround setting that you enable somewhere to allow stereo sources to play in 5.1.

How is the PC connected to the Yamaha receiver? If it's through multi-channel analog then the receiver DSP processor probably cannot do anything and whatever settings you change will need to be in the PC.

Sorry about not elaborating. Do you have an option for "CMSS 3D" in your Creative control panel? Try activating that. The only problem is that will stay active no matter what you do unless you turn it off again. I have found the effect to be undesirable.
