Hello All
I am haveing a few troubles putting one of the drivers on the motherboard. In specific audio device on high definition audio bus it still has a yellow ! sign on it even after I run the motherboard cd. However I do have an ati wonder tv toner installed which the cd has been run. Not sure what my next step is to resolve the issue.

What ATI graphics card are you running ?
If it has HDCP/HDMI then there's another driver you need from the ATI/AMD site (It was listed as supplemental for the 2900 so start looking there first.) and you may need the High Definition Audio Driver Package - KB888111 from Microsoft as well.

Un-install the driver.

edit : Now head over to ATI and see if their download will do any better for you.

Simply running update driver in Device Manager may also work for you.
There have been reports of problems with the Realtec driver download so try it that way, and remember to set a restore point.

You get what you need the ATI/AMD site.

Here : http://support.ati.com/ics/support/d...estionID=35367

and/or here : http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/hdmiaudio-xp.html

edit : take the bit about installing SP3 for XP to heart.

O.K. so I just intalled a 5.1 sound card , I think that would be better anyhow because he will be able to connect a 5.1 sound system. Now how do I make the computer stop asking me to look for the PCI slot driver. I already disabled that device but evertime I turn the system on the box imstall wizard comes up.

what you need to do is install the HDMI driver....

I assume this has onboard video with a HDMI port...so when you install the onboard audio it also find the HDMI port (sound is in with the video) and it's telling you it cannot find the driver for the device....

two options...

1) disable the HD Audio (HDMI) via the bios or

2) install the HDMI driver off the motherboard CD....

you can just update the driver via the device manager and search the cd and it will find it....

But once it does install you may have to go into the sound properties to switch it back to onboard to get sound back....you can select onboard or HDMI sound but not both at the same time....

Hi Max,

He's using a Radeon 2600.

If he's got a sound card he should removed the on board sound drivers and then disabled the audio in the bios when rebooted.

Then he should have installed the other drivers, in addition to the Windows HD sound if there's no SP3 install, but I'm having trouble keeping track.

true....
but as i stated the reason for the issue is because when the onboard audio drivers are installed it picks up on the HDMI chip and detects the HDMI audio and tries to load a driver for that as well as it's and "Audio on high definition bus"

you can disable just the HDMI audio via the bios but it's in a different section than the audio stuff...
