Help with video card

I have and older HP computer and i was given a video card for it from a friend. The problem is when I try to change the resolution i am only given the option of 800 x 600 resolution and 4 bit colors. The computer is a HP a1243w and the video card is a bfg tech 256 MB nvidia 7300GS.
The only thing that comes to mind is that the monitor that i am using it on natively supports 1680 x 1050 resolution.

Thanks for the help again

Ben

you need to uninstall the drivers for whatever the old video was and if on-board, may need to disable in the BIOS. Then install the drivers for the video card.
