Monitor KILLS power cords
I'm hoping someone can shed some light on the subject:
I have an LCD monitor, a ViewEra 19" that is about 3 years old. In the passed six months I have had to replace the power cord from the wall to the DC converter twice. All that happens is that the screen turn black, the illuminated power button turns black and then the monitor emits a funny noise that continues until I disconnect the video cable. After that I got a new power cable hooked everything up and it works fine. The old cable no longer works for anything. Any ideas???

I would try plugging the monitor into a different power outlet.

In both situations I was using two different surge protected power strips in two different outlets.

Are two power outlets are on the same household circuit? Something happening twice in a six month period could be a little hard to track down. I would say the household current or the monitor is at fault or
possibly low quality power strips. A power cord is just a means of travel for the current. |

I believe its the monitor though because it happened in two different houses. I might try a different power strip. One of them was a radio shack surge protector. The other was I think Emerson. I might have to pull out my 5 year old Back up power supply.
