splat Radeon 3450 installation frustration!

hey i got a Radeon HD 3450 to replace my XFX 8600GT. i took out the 8600 and ran on the onboard video for a few days, so far so good. then i put in my new 3450 and my monitor says "No signal R G B". so i thumb through the quick installation guide book that it came with. it told me that i should uninstall my onboard video first, and it doesnt say how. so how do i uninstall my onboard video? also if i uninstall the onboard video can i still get to my desktop? this doesnt make sense to me!

Uninstall the drivers for the XFX 8600GT. Go into the Bios and disable the onboard video. There may also be a choice for "Auto".
