Hi,
So basically I am here asking for help about connecting my Dell Inspiron 1525 to my HDTV via HDMI. My laptop has an HDMI output and my TV the input. Up to a week ago (before my recent reinstallation of XP Pro) I was able to simply connect the two devices via one HDMI cable and watch movies, access internet, etc. The issue I am having now post reinstallation is that I receive the video from the laptop but the audio plays out of my laptop and not the HDTV, which it did before. Can anyone please recommend something I might not have done that this is happening? I have exhausted my thoughts on why. Thanks so much!

Did you reinstall XP by using PC Restore (Ctrl+F11) or with a CD? If you used a CD, you have to reinstall all the drivers from the Dell Resource CD or by downloading them from Dell.

Hi, Since you never want to reinstall OS in windows, I did it with a CD. I downloaded all drivers but seem to be at a standstill. |

PC Restore does not restore in Windows. You press Ctrl+F11 on startup. That is the best way, it uses the recovery partition and reimages the drive to factory delivered condition. It will NOT work if you deleted the diagnostic and/or recovery partition.
