I picked up a case with some hardware in it and I want to turn it into a Tivo like TV recorder. What hardware and software do I need to install to make this work? I have seen this in a home being used with a remote control which, of course, I would like.
They also had a multi disc cd player connected to the computer playing music over their speaker system throughout the entire house. So, while I'm at it, I would like to be able to listen to AM/FM, CD's, and MP3 in a seperate area of the house while the television audio surrounds the veiwers on it's own speaker system OR listen to either source (tv or audio) in the entire house. Is this possible? newomij |

you are talking about a Home Theater PC, yes it is and they have been around for a bit. What you need to start with are at least two TV tuner cards. One to watch and one to record, the more cards means the more programs you can record. Get good quality tuner cards and you are either going to need a copy of windows media center or Vista, or a third party software. For the 'rest of the house' you need a media extender.
