Stream mkv file wirelessly
I have a new 47" tv in my living room, and would like to be able to watch dvds I encoded onto my server on it. The dvds are encoded into mkv files.
I also need a wireless solution because I just can't run a cable that far, and it's an apartment so I can't put holes in the wall. Plus if the solution has hdmi and a dvd player. Really big plus if it has blue-ray. Any ideas?

Got a spare computer you could hook up to the TV?

Nothing that wouldn't look really out of place.
I'm trying to see if my eee would work, but it wouldn't have good audio output, and is giving me trouble searching the network. |

Well, you can get really long cables dirt cheap at monoprice.com, if that helps hide what would be an HTPC

I really don't have room for that, and cable concealment would be an issue.
Thinking about getting an eee box, and connecting vie hdmi. They also have wireless connections. Would tehn use a wii remote as a mouse to choose movies to watch. |

This is just an example as I would assume that you would want something in wireless N, but you could use a media player.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882103603 its really just an extension of the Vista media server that connects to your TV and some come with a built in DVD player.

Those look interesting, but none mentioned in the specs that they play mkv files.

Well I got the eee box, and I think I found a way to make it do what I want. I was going to install xbox media center on it.
I got an open box B206 from newegg. The processor just can't handle the flash of hulu, but that's a minor issue. I tried to format the drive and install a few different os, to see which would give me the best performance for what I wanted. Well, that has caused nothing but problems. After trying for hours to get different os's installed, I finally came to the conclusion that the hd controller is bad, and I now need to send it back. So once again, I'm looking for a solution. EDIT: Trying to get a rma from Asus. If I'm right about it being the hard drive controller, they should be able to fix/replace it and I should be able to get a working eee box again.
