Annoying spot on/in monitor

I purchased my latest monitor, an Acer 24" lcd, 8 months ago and just recently the screen has developed an irritating feature. It has a small 1/8" diagonal "streak" just off center. At first I thought it was a smudge or something on the surface but after examining it closely I found that it is embedded in the monitor. It looks like a cluster of dead pixels. At least 10 or more. I tried switching hdmi inputs on the monitor, different cables and a different pc. No luck. Any opinions???

thank you
