Coaxial to HDMI?
My brother has a 24" 1080p monitor that has a VGA and an HDMI input. He wants to bring it to college this fall to use as a TV. The cable in the dorms outputs with a coaxial cable. Is there such a thing as a coaxial to HDMI converter? I've looked, but I haven't been able to find one.

The monitor needs to have some sort of TV Tuner and or cable box doesn't it? Or are you saying that the cable box only have the coax connection?

I used a tv tuner in my computer when I was in college. It was the same situation.

He just has a laptop with no TV tuner. There is no cable box, just a coaxial jack in the wall to plug a TV into. There's no other way to do this without a TV tuner?

No. The signal coming from the wall is most likely analog and HDMI is digital. You will need a tuner to convert and tune into the signal.

He needs to get an HD cable box. If the only connection on the box is coax (RF) then it is NOT an HD box.
