Cross Fire Question
Hi, I just wanted to know if I can X-fire with this motherboard I just got:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130224 I have a Radeon 4890 and I want to add another one. It says it has: 1 mazarine PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot with x16 operation 1 light-blue PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot with x8 operation Do I need two x16 operation slots? Thanks for the answer in advance, I'm pretty new at this. |

You can crossfire with that board, and I believe both cards would run at x8. Make sure you have a power supply that's certified for that pair of cards.
http://game.amd.com/us-en/crossfire_...ied.aspx?cat=3 Scroll down to the 4890, then click on "details" to the right of each PSU, and it will tell you how many cards it supports. It has to have "2" next to 4890. |

Ha! I'm pretty happy because I almost bought the Corsair 600w and then decided to just go with the 750w and according to that site the 750w can X-fire 2 4890's while the 600w can only do 1
. If I run two 4890's and they run at x8 is that bad...? Is it worth the X-fire if they both run at 8x? I don't know what 8x or 16x means so I'm not sure. Thanks for your advice I <3 this site.

I believe that PCIExpress 2.0 x8 has the same bandwidth as PCIExpress 1.0 x16, which would mean that each card would be bandwidth capped slightly.
