I recently had to replace my hard drive due to a crash. I have everything up and running except I have no audio and no sound device shows up when I check in control panel. The system is a Sony Pcv-Rs710gx. I have downloaded and updated all the drivers for this but still no audio device. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I hesitate to mention these, but they happen. Have you checked to make sure something didn't mute it or turn down the sliders? There have been times that that happens to me and I have to correct them again. Also, sometimes another program will lock the card and not release it until either a reboot or the program is stopped. I presume neither applies to you, but I will mention them anyhow. Another that happens, but probably not to you is to make sure they are plugged in the right outputs. Like I said, you probably have covered these early on, but sometimes the easiest ones are where the problems are.

Oh, by the way, if it is lost audio, you might either take it to church or turn on a service it can watch.

Thanks for the suggestions but there is no audio device showing up on the control panel so I believe it's not being recognized by the system.
