Video Card Question

Hey everyone I just wanted to ask you guys a question, ok here it goes:
there is a video card called (ATI Radeon HD4670 512MB) and so I wanted to know, what is the 512 mb, is that how much memory it takes from the hard drive or ram memory?

Thanks.

That is the RAM that is on the video card itself, that it will use while it renders graphics.

Ok, so for example I'm buying a computer with a memory of 4gb(ram) and the vid card is 512mb, so the video card then uses 512 mb of the ram, right?

No. The video card has it's own memory, which would be 512mb.

Your computer will still have the 4gb.

Ok, so for example TF2 system requirements are:
CPU: 2.4 GHz Processor
RAM: 512 MB
Graphics Card: DirectX 9 capable graphics card 256 MB

so my card can run it then?
