PC to TV Audio problems

Greetings,

I just bought a new LG Plasma TV. I am hooking up my PC to my TV to watch downloaded movies and such. My video card has two dvi ports. I hooked up the PC to TV with a DVI to HDMI cable. The Video is fine. I bought a headphone Y audio cable (headohone jack to red and white). I hooked up the Cable to the tv and it does not work. I tested the cable by hooking up my ipod to it and to the tv and then selected the AV1 input and it worked like a charm so I know its not the cable. I tried tinkering with both my computer and my tv and cant get it to work. I hooked up the headphone jack to my logitech speakers control module. The speakers are 5.1. I even went into my audio settings to put it on stereo and still doesnt work. Please help me, I just wanna watch my movies in peace haha. Thank you for reading.

What model is the TV? You need to connect the PC audio to an analog input on the TV that corresponds to the HDMI input you are using. Not all sets have this.

The model is
Lg 42PQ30

I tried doing that and it still did not work. I originally plugged the hdmi into the side input which is (hdmi 3) along with the av in the same slot. I am just completely baffled atm. Thanks

It was a long day at work and I couldn't download the manual for your TV on my iPod.

Here is your back panel:

Photobucket

Right?

If so, you need to connect the PC to either HDMI 1 or 2 and the PC audio to the mini-jack input labeled "Audio In (RGB/DVI)". You need a cable like THIS assuming you're using the 3.5mm outputs of your sound card. The red, white, and yellow connections on the side are a separate video input and will not provide audio when using HDMI as you discovered.

On that picture, the jack looks like a RCA, not a 1/8" minijack.

The illustration is poor. Even the RF cable/antenna input looks the same as the RCA and 3.5mm connections in the picture. The text says it is a 1/8in plug. The remote control in would definetely be an 1/8in plug and it also looks like an RCA jack in that picture. It looks like someone got lazy and pasted the same jack graphic for everything.

Wow, you guys have been great and thanks alot HI HO.

I should be able to plug one end into my speaker and the other end into my tv correct?
The sound quality would be something comparable as to watching tv?

Again thanks alot!
