lost video
I was playing with the resolution settings and tried the higest setting and a little window came up on my black screen that said out of range. Now i can't reset to any other setting. I tried safe mode and reset but it does not stay on the new setting. when I reboot it goes back to the screen with out of range.
It is a ATI Radeon HD2600 Pro on Windows Vista Home Premium. How can return this to it's previous settings? Thanxs

you may be able to do a system restore as well, closest to the date you made the problem surface.

Well I solved the problem. I first removed the card and replaced it with another. It booted up fine. then put the old card back in and rebooted. Same old problem. Then I booted to safe mode, removed the drivers, rebooted and installed new drivers. problem solved.
You and I were thinking the same on this one Force Flow. Thanx to all who helped!! |

I can usually fix that by booting up in VGA mode and changing the resolution.

Is there a VGA mode in Vista? I don't rememeber seeing it. If I had I'm sure I would have tried it.

I dunno! If not, that's just one more reason to add to my dislike of Vista.

I do not like the interface. If I was willing to deal with the new interface, I'd be enthusiastic about Windows 7.

As for me when Windows 7 comes out in October I'm going to build myself a new computer and pass on my Vista system on to my wife.
Thanx for the help!! |
