DVD/VHS/TV hook-up
I have a new Panasonic TV and a new Panasonic DVD recorder. The book shows how to connect them together with a VHS tape recorder, but I have had no luck. Ordered a component cable and it has red/green & blue ends while the jacks on the DVD and VCR are red/white & yellow. How do I know which one to plug it into or is this the wrong cable. Anybody have a wiring diagram?

You can use the red/green for red/white (audio) and the blue for yellow (video).
The colors don't actually have any affect on anything...they just help you keep track of what gets plugged into where.

Red/white and yellow is composite video and stereo audio, not component video.
If your equipment has component video available, you should use that over composite. |

The cable you have is usable for either - but if you use it for component video, you will need an additional double cable (red/white) for the audio. Red/white is audio, yellow is composite video, and RGB is component video.
This is why I made sure my TV, cable box, and DVD player all have HDMI. Makes things a LOT simpler - a single cable carries both audio and high definition video. |

My DVD recorder is connected with HDMI,that's good. Can I use an S video cable instead of the white one?

You can use S-video, but you will still need the red/white for audio.
