wmv or avi - which is best?
Hi, I just wondered if I were to burn some home movies from a video camera to dvd which format is better quality, avi or wmv files, or is there no real difference?
Thanks! |

avi is just a container format, which doesn't tell what codec is actually being used (kind of like having 4 recycling bins just labeled "recycling" and not knowing which actually holds glass, paper, metal, and plastic)
But, short answer is, in most cases, the default avi format (or the avi quality labeled "high quality) is usually higher quality. WMV is *always* compressed and will usually show signs of being compressed.
