PC --> Samsung TV=no audio
Greetings. I haven't been here in a long while and hope everyone is doing well. I have a problem that is absolutely driving me insane and need some help.
I hooked my PC to my TV with a dvi-hdmi connector and the video is great. But for the life of me cannot get audio to my tv speakers. The specs for my PC is: mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128014 which has: Realtek ALC888 codec HD audio 2/4/5.1/7.1-channel Support for S/PDIF In/Out Support for CD in Video card: EVGA 384-P3-N853-AR GeForce 8800GS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130333 And my TV is a Samsung Model LN37A450 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16889102216 I have tried (I think) everything. Mini jacks, optical cables... nothing is working. |

That card doesn't have HDMI native to it so the sound won't go through the HDMI cable. And since the TV has HDMI selected as it's A/V source, it's expecting the audio via the HDMI. I've just used the sound output from the PC to PC speakers for this type of situation.

That may be so, but why then wouldn't the Y cable jack work (analog)?

Nvidia cards have this issue. They do not like to pass audio without native HDMI. Use a VGA cable from the video card to the TV, and a line-out cable from the onboard sound to the TV's audio input.

Where are you connecting the audio from the PC to the TV? You need to plug the PC into HDMI 1 on the TV and plug the analog audio into the jacks directly below that input. That will get you picture AND sound.
