Monitor for ps3/gaming pc

Hi, so i need help choosing a moniter for my PC. its kinda outdated atm but i plan on upgrading it soon enough. i plan on using this moniter for PC gaming, music, PS3 gaming, and blu ray. (its possible to hook up a ps3 to a pc moniter right?) can any one point me in the right direction in moniters or recommend me a few? i know nothing about resolution or or ratios. thanks

EDIT: ive been reading on the internet that the new PS3 slim doesnt show 1080p on tv's that arent made by sony. will this be a problem for a PC monitor?

What is your budget for the monitor?

I'd recommend something around 24" that uses a 1080p resolution. I'd look at Dell. You can easily hook up a monitor to your PS3. Use a direct HDMI connection if possible (most new monitors have it) and otherwise, just use a DVI to HDMI adapter.

As for the 1080p on Sony TVs only, that sounds like an internet rumor to me.

Acer's are a budget monitor. The couple I've worked with have a good image.

That Acer should be just fine. They are sometimes more budget but there are many fine models that they make.

Acer's are not as pricy as some other big names like Samsung, but they still offer a great bang for the buck. Post a link to the model you were looking at.

I recently bought a 23.5 inch Acer LCD (16:9) with 2 HDMI ports and a VGA port, which I use for my Xbox 360 and computer and the performance and image quality is very good. I managed to get mine on clearance for $200 as it was a discontinued model.

I don't use top end LCD monitors. I always go with budget brands and haven't had any real complaints yet. I have an Envision and an Acer here, and the extended family has about 4 Hanns-G's. The Acer died after 2 years - it has a 3 year warranty so I got a RMA, sent it in, and got it back in about 2 weeks, properly repaired.

I'm personally looking into purchasing this monitor for my desktop PC gaming, but if you had the extra cash, it'd be an excellent monitor if it's actually supported.

2048 x 1152 resolution, amazing contrast ratio, bright but with deep blacks - and even some touch-sensitive buttons on the front. For a 23" monitor to have such a fine resolution, you can bet that this is one heck of a nice monitor, but I don't do console gaming on PS3 so someone else more qualified is going to have to verify if this would be a plausible option for you.
