PhysX Ageia Physics Accelerator
I have a phenom II 550 dual core callisto that I unlocked to a quad core phenom II 3.1ghz. I applied an overclock to 3.6ghz and my processor is now a force to be reckoned with, but my 8800gt 512mb is starting to show its age.
On the 'Bay', an 8800gt 512mb can still fetch about $90-115 or so used, so I've just today purchased an HD4890 to replace my card (and eventually run Crossfire X). I have a question though. I know Nvidia purchased Ageia and incorporates their physics engine into their GeForce graphics cards, but I don't know what ATi specifically incorporates to help process physics better. Would it be a worthwhile purchase to get an actual Ageia PhysX Accelerator card for PCI slot? Would that help or just take up extra wattage to run? |

Don't bother. The video card will provide enough graphical power on its own.

Ok thank you. I figure it'd be surely more beneficial to just throw another 4890 in there if I needed extra power, but I was just wondering if I'd notice a marginal difference. Thanks.
