Problem installing video card

I wanted to install a separate PCI video card into an XP Pro machine that originally came with the Intel 82810e integrated video. When I install the PCI card, Windows doesn't pick it up and the machine won't even bootup. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks.

You might have to go into the BIOS and disable the onboard video.

Could you be a bit more specific? If it won't even boot, how would Windows even try to pick it up?

Most likely a bad card or a dead motherboard slot.
