Cable Box setup
We just purchased a new Panasonic HD TV and a Panasonic DVD recorder. It works perfect, has the Viera Link and hooked up with a HDMI cable,I car record a program to DVD while watching another channel. Now our cable Co. says they must install a cable box or we will no longer get a picture. They are going all Hi-Def and the signal is scrambled so we will have to use their box. If the TV must be set on channel 3 for the box to work, will I still be able to watch one show while recording another? We never had a box before, just direct co-ax in to the tv. The cable Co. doesn't seem to be able to answer my question. Any body here have experience with this?

I'm afraid not. The only way you can watch one program and record another is with a cable box that has a DVR.

The need for a cable box also will render any Picture in picture feature on your TV as useless. Although some cable boxes have PIP built in.
