How to add my own sound effects to games?

I have a strange problem here, although its not really a problem.

I want to add Cramer's soundboard effects to games like Left 4 Dead while I am playing them. In other words I want to be able to push the "House of Pain" button after the Tank crushes me and have other players hear it. I know I could just turn up the volume on my sound system and let others hear it through my microphone, but that would sound really distorted....like having a TV on in the background while playing a game. I want the sound to go through electronically in the microphone circuit, not through the air, so it sounds clear. There must be a way of dubbing in these sounds through the microphone circuit?

I have two monitors and I was figuring I could put the game on one monitor and have Cramer's soundboard on the other monitor. I have already done the dual monitor setup, that's easy.

Cramer's soundboard... http://www.cnbc.com/id/18724672/

Dang...I have to give away my secret?

I used a second computer connected to the internet to bring up the Cramer's sound board. I then ran a 1/8 inch stereo connector from the sound output of the second computer to the microphone In port of the gaming computer. I put a 1/8 inch stereo splitter in at the microphone port so I can still use my headphones microphone. After that it was a matter of tweaking the volume level of the sound output on the second computer. The only disadvantage is that I have to use a second mouse on the second computer....which is still quicker than using a KVM switch in order to eliminate the second mouse and keyboard.

BTW....when done at the right moments, the sound effects are funny as hell.

Try recording the sounds, saving them as WAV and use HLSS (for HLSS, WAVs have to be 11025Hz and 16-bit).

Thanks Force...this seems like a better way of going about playing .wav files in the game that I had not realized existed....better than my hardware hack.

I got as far as.. SteamApps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\cfg. I got to the cfg file and opened it. Inside cfg, there is supposed to be a file called autoexec.cfg I cannot seem to find this file. Can you find it on your computer?

Here are the instructions I am reading from...

If the file isn't there, you can just go ahead and create it. It's just a text file.

Create a new file called autoexec.cfg inside the cfg folder?
