4870 (1gb) vs GTS 250 (1gb)

Exact same price on Newegg, and I have my build complete other than the video card. It comes down to these two cards, and any help would be appreciated. Which one is better? I'm not exactly sure how to compare the two, since they seem much different as far as Processing Cores and stuff goes.

4870
GTS 250

I'll be playing on a 21.5" monitor, 1920x1080 resolution. Mostly playing WoW, but other games as well. I don't want to break the bank, and I heard both of these cards will suit me fine.

Thanks for the help.

To compare the cards (in terms of benchmarks) take a look at websites such as Tom's Hardware. From the reviews and benchmarks I've seen (and from my experience) the HD4870 is faster than the GTS250. The GTS250 compares with the HD4850.

Tip: WoW plays fine on a $50 HD4650 at 1440x900. The only thing WoW does not play well on is onboard video.

The GTS250 and the 9800GTX are nowhere near as fast as the 4850 for gaming. Those cards were obsolete when Nvidia released them.

Thanks for the responses guys. Also, WoW doesn't play fine on a lower end video card - sure it can be maxed out on graphics, but you can't use AA or turn on Shadows without experencing some bad FPS. I also want my computer to be able to play most other higher-end games. The new things Blizzard has added can be put to the test with newer cards.

I'm also looking into the 4890 and GTX 260, but from everything I've been reading today it seems like the ATI cards are just better, so I'll probably go with one of them.

Thanks again.
