Audacity Playback is out of tune from the original!
I just discovered that the Audacity audio recording program is out of tune!
I'm using Audacity v1.2.4 to record guitar rhythm tracks and then playing them back to practice playing lead guitar. It was impossible to play lead over these recordings because the rhythm tracks were about 1/2 step out of tune (on the low side) and the live lead & recorded rhythm track sounded horrible together. I found a temporary solution which is to select the entire recording in Audacity and apply a +2.5% change in PITCH and then resave the file. I'm saving to MP3 file format but the conversion is not the problem. It's Audacity that is recording & playing it back at the wrong pitch. Does anyone know how to make Audacity record & playback in perfect pitch? My recording settings are: Sampling rate: 8,000 16 bit Fast Sinc Interpolation High Quality Sinc Interpolation Real time Dither: NONE High Quality Dither: Triangle ---pete--- |

glc, this problem has occurred for days now and I have not even rebooted my PC since I posted this thread. Well, I just opened Audacity to apply your suggestion and first tested at my normnal settings and the problem did NOT occcur. What? (scratching my head) So next I applied your suggestion above and the problem did not occur but it's not a fair test at this point in time because it seems to have fixed itself. Very odd. Lets see what happens over the next few days.
I have not made any changes to my system since this problem last occured earlier today, so I'm at a loss trying to determine what could be different to have fixed the problem. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the suggestion. |
