which tv card to choose

my hercules smarttv2 pci card seems to have gone bad, i'm not getting any sound what so ever any more. tried completely reinstalling it, the drivers, software etc, but nothing helped.

So now i'm looking for a new one. The sad thing is that in about 2 years from now, there will not be any analogue tv broadcasting anymore, so i'm looking for a cheap one.

Is any of these preferrable over the rest?
If there are no performance issues i'd prefer an usb one.

Compro Videomate X200 - TV - FM Radio - Remote Control € 40
Pinnacle PCTV Analog USB € 50
Hauppauge WinTV PVR 150MCE - OEM €51
Hauppauge WinTV HVR-900 - Hybrid USB TV-Tuner € 62
Hauppauge WinTV PVR 150 - Retail (incl Remote) € 75

i just found one that has dvb-s, but i don't really know what that is
(a mate told me that the dvb-t thing doesn't exist in my area)

WinTV HVR-3000 Remote,DVB-S/T & Analog TV €109

my mobo is an asus p5k deluxe, q6600 cpu, 2gb corsair, GF 8800 512mb vidcard, corsair 520w psu, antec p180b case. OS is winxp 32bit

all tips are very welcome, i wouldn't know what to take atm

It's hard to go wrong with a Hauppauge.

thanks for the tip, i'm going to look for a WinTV HVR-900 then.

one more queston though, does it have a "hardware MPEG II encode chip"?
i read in few forums and reviews that a tvcard with it is more desirable.

I didnt like the Compro...it had a slightly fuzzy picture to me...the Pinnacle isnt half bad

I currently have the Encore TVNL tuner and for a cheap card it is AWESOME...crystal clear picture...but is analog as you said and is currently worthless without a digital box or cable

Nope, that one is a software encoder. Only the very high end USB tuners have a hardware encoder. You may want to look at a PCI or PCI-E card.

thanks,

i'm gonna think a weekend over it what i prefer, either the usb w/o "hardware encoder" or the PVR 150 pci which does have it according to the website.

i havent found any PCI-e tvcards around here, i don't think they are available yet here in belgium.
(we usually are the very last in line when it comes to new hardware etc, tiny country, tiny market i guess)
