M4A79XTD EVO with Creative SB Extreme Music - re: front panel audio

Hi All,

I am trying to figure out how to hook up my front panel audio (mic + headset) with the combo above.

If I disable the onboard audio I get no front panel audio at all. If I enable HD audio on the board, then the sound blaster and the onboard audio keeps competing for the sound but both the speakers (hooked to the SB ports) and the front panel works. But anytime I unplug my headset from the front the VIA HD manager keeps popping up and reconfigures my settings for sounds so the main sound is changed to onboard from the SB card.

Can I hook the front panel to the SB card? Any ideas? Thanks!

If the card has a header, yes. If not, no.

This is the actual sound card in question:

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface Sound Card - Retail

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102188

It has some connectors but I have no clue what they are for. Is this card better than the onboard at all? May be I should just pull it out.

on board sound is: VIA VT1708S

Nope, none of those connectors are for front panel audio.
