PC and TV in separate rooms
I'm thinking about getting a TV tuner card and using my PC as a DVR/media center. I would also like to continue using the PC for normal activities like surfing the net and email. My office is upstairs and the TV is on the main floor. Are there any options for being able to use the PC upstairs (monitor, keyboard, mouse) while using the PC as media center for the TV on the main floor?
As I see it, I have two options: 1. Keep the PC next to the TV, so then I have to figure out how to remotely use the PC from upstairs. 2. Keep the PC upstairs and figure out how to get the video down to the TV. With #1, I've seen ethernet KVM's that might be an option, but seem expensive. I don't know what solutions are available for #2. I'd appreciate any thoughts anyone might have. Thanks, Dan |

Another thought is that VGA has length restrictions depending on resolution and a good quailty DVI cable can be pricey(10 meter around $120/20 meter around $350 )
