PCI express 1.0

Hi all,

Hoping somebody could advise please - would I be able to upgrade to one of the newer GPU's with an older PCI 1.0 mobo ? It's a Gigabyte 965P-DS3, Googled a fair bit and the advice seems to be that 1.1 is ok - I don't know about a board this old however ...

At present I've got a 7600gs, just want something that'll give a boost in performance without breaking the bank (PSU is fine 550w), was looking at an ATI 4670 ? As you can probably tell, been away from the hardware scene for a while,
