Question about PCI Express

Looks like I have a failing video card. While using my PC I loose picture and won't come back until I shutdown and turn on. My question is my MB is a ASUS A8N5X which has a PCI Express 16 where my Vid card sits now. The current vid card is a Sapphire Radeon X1950xt. I want to replace it with an XFX Geforce 9600GSO. The new card is a PCI express 2.0 x16. Will this still work in a regular x16 slot. Alsio, is the new card decent for online gameplay (mainly WoW).

Yes to both. However, what is the brand and model of your power supply?

My power supply is a TOPOWER ZU-550W 550W ATX12V Version 2.0 / EPS12V SLI Ready Power Supply. However, it was made by Zulman not Topower, guess they got bought out.

Okay, that's plenty strong enough. It could handle stronger cards if needed.

My grandson plays WoW with a Radeon 4650 on a PCI-E 1.0 board, and it does quite well. Considering that a GSO is equivalent to a 4670, it should do fine. You may want to look at 4670's, they do use less power than the GSO and cost about the same.
