Connecting VHS to PC
I was hopping that someone could tell me the best way of connecting a VHS player to my PC to put old family movies that were previously put from old 8mm movie reels to VHS and now require the updated version of burning them to DVD. I do have the Ulead Videostudio 9 version that says it can do it, but doesn't say the right way of connecting the VHS to PC hookup?
I have heard that there are some RCA to USB connectors that may be used? I will probably copy the old movies that I have from the 70's and 80's that you can't get copies of in the DVD format too. I do understand about the copying laws, I am not going to go mad and make a business out of it. Any help would be much appreciated. Mark454 |

Over the years I tried things from Pinnacle at home (on a Win98SE 800Mghz. PC) maybe 7 years ago (probably could find the thread here) and maybe 5 or 6 years ago at work (thread would be here too.) The first one would only record about 6-8 minutes at a time which I blamed on the processor even though it fell within Pinnacle's minimum specs. At work it was a much newer PC with XP and it had problems syncing audio with video (the first had it as well at times.) So, I have pretty much given up on Pinnacle stuff after seeing others had the same issues when rendering. I was never really able to use either one so I and the church both are out money to them for things that don't work right.

I might end up trying their card and software I have at church again with the computer in my sig to see if they will work there.

Thanks for that.
I'll look into the analog capture device as mentioned and I'll probably give it a go when I get the right gear. Ulead VideoStudio 9 does say that it can do it, I'll look into it a bit more. thanks |

If you have a recent vintage digital video camera you connect it to your pc and then connect your analog device to that and use what is called pass-through mode on the digital camera to convert to capture the video.
