Editing AVCHD
Finally got talked into upgrading the video cam (no more shoulder-held VHS for me...), but I've not seen a great solution for editing the file format that the Sony HD cams end up with...
My version of Premier Pro is so old that it won't even accept HD video. Don't think I need to drop the huge amount of cash on a high-end suite like that again, but what's the best solution for editing and burning at a sub-pro level? Thx!

AVCHD is the standard video format for HD video--it's not Sony proprietary, thankfully.
That said, the only mid-range too I can think of is Pinnacle Studio. There's three different editions in the price range of about $50-$100. Be sure to check out the demo first to see if it can do what you need.

Editing AVCHD
I've been using Adobe Premier Elements 10 for editing video from my Canon Camcorder. It works well.
