DX question RE win 7 and games for XP

I finally got my new pile together and more or less running, I'm having issues with a number of programs introduced for win XP.

I have many games built around win XP, e.g. (FEAR, the 1st I tried installing), Fear refuses to install without 1st loading DX 9.0c. I have a GForce 560 with DX11.

If I install 9.0c do I lose DX11 then reinstall it?

What are my options?

Please and thankyou for any and all help
G.

Your best option is upgrade to Win 7 Pro and use "XP Mode" - which is real XP running in a virtual machine.

No, not XP compatibility mode - true XP Mode.

Windows XP Mode - Windows 7 features - Microsoft Windows

You have to download Virtual PC and the special copy of XP.

Unfortunately, many games will not play in Windows XP mode.

Install and use Windows XP Mode in Windows 7

Windows XP Mode was primarily designed to help businesses move from Windows XP to Windows 7.

It isn't optimized for graphic-intensive programs such as 3D games, ...

... nor is it well suited for programs with hardware requirements such as TV tuners.

Guess what, I brained a way to get FEAR to run, it also workd on COD2. I opened up the CD to show all the files found "set up.exe", R clickd it and the compatibility mode option was there.

Also a few days later after searching the net, a others have had the same prob with many PC games made for XP and freaked when the DX9.0c question pops up. Many state allowing 9.0c to load doesn't override/remove DX11, it mearly copies files missing from 11. I did a search on my pile after the fact and found that DX11 is the listed DX.
