Unhappy VPU Recover has reset your graphics accelerator

Heyy there,

I have been having this problem quite frequently...I have searched all over the web trying to sort this problem out but they mostly all come to the same conclusion.

I have tried :

Reseting the card :P
Leaving it to cool down for allmost a whole day
I uninstalled my ati from driver manager, Restarted and re-downloaded
Redownloaded CCC
Turned V-Sync on in CCC and triple buffering.
Cleaned out my whole computer
Retried the next day hoping it would magically sort it's self out xD
Messed around in-game to try and see if anything happens..It doesn't :P
Run a virus scan

Last but not lest i have installed Rivatuner, But it says it might not be compatible with my card :/
Plus i have no idea how to actually use it...

Okay, My actual problem is this :

When ever i play a game (E.G. Microvolts) I get a really bad mesh problem where the charicters skin or clothes spikes out of it's self (I'll try and upload a screenshot soon)
I try and play the game and after about 5 min's it will crash saying this

"VPU Recover has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphics driver commands. Please tell ATI about this problem"

Other then that my computer has been fine... :/
It's a bit loud somtimes like i can hear the fan every now and then when it's loading somthing like a game

My spec's are...

ATI Radeon X1600
OS Windows XP
CPU 3.00 GHz
2.50 GB of RAM

Ummm, Unsure what else to put ^^
If you want to know other spec's just ask and tell me how to find out :P

Hmmm. Nothing else i can think of

Soo, Thanks for reading and i really hope i can get this sorted out :3

Your card is probably showing its age - it might be time for a replacement. This is symptomatic of a failing GPU or video ram.

What is the brand and model of the computer (if it's a name brand) or the brand and model of the motherboard (if it's a generic or custom)? What is the brand and model of the power supply?

Sorry it took so long to reply :<

Well, The brand of the computer is Dell Optiplex, The Model is...GX280

Unsure about the motherboard model ect...I don't know where to find it :s
I braught it off ebay so i'm unsure if any custom work was done to it
Any idea how i can find out the model of my Mother board? :3

I'll reply soon about my power supply now (Ofc i have to turn off my PC so i will reply in a moment about that, As long as that's okay ^^)

But yeahh, I don't think it would be age seeing as it's only a year and a half old, Unless my graphics card is that weak? XD

If the power supply is what originally came with the Dell, it's not strong enough for that video card. An Optiplex is *NOT* designed to be a gaming computer. Not only is the power supply small, it doesn't have adequate cooling for a video card.

We don't need the motherboard model. However, the power supply model is quite important.

The power supply:

Producer : Dell

Edit-

You are trying to run a X1600 with a 210 watt PSU? Not very wise. That PSU is going to die and take the video card and the motherboard with it - if the video card isn't already damaged from not enough clean power. ATI recommends a 420 watt unit for a system with that card...........

Heyy there again, So i've replaced the Power supply with a 500 watt, I noticed that my card was over heating so i replaced the thermal paste aswell.
Thankfully no more overheating :3
But...I still get the same problem :/
I can play agmes like Left 4 Dead, and S4 but i can't play games like Tera or Dead Island on low settings for very long.
(I notied in Tera i could play in the snow lands but as soon as i looked at any building or wood it would spike off, But in grassy areas i shut down really quickly)
I am unsure whats going on... :<

What brand and model is the 500 watt PSU?

If the video card has been overheating, it's very likely that it's now defective.

Well, It says EZ cool Super Silent
ATX- 500 JSP

I thaught that too, But i recently braught a Nvida GF8400GS DDR2 256MB to replace my old Radeon X1600 256MB, But when i place it inside my PC, There is no screen response, And all the fans go really fast and loud, and "Sounds like a plane lifting off"
And i tried another card which just doesn't work in any PC.

The quality of that PSU is very questionable.

Okay, I just restarted my PC and it said System voltage is low (I'm still on the EZCool one) :s
I had the Firepower one in a couple of days ago and it never came up with that message (I changed to the 500 one thinking that it would be better x3)

Well, I decided on Firepower, And so far no anomalys. I've ran high spec games like Tera for over 4 hours now, and no VPU recovery, Heating etc. Once I placed this PSU inside, my other graphics card worked, The X1300.
Thank you so much for your advice & Speedy replys!.
I'll be sure to bring my questions about computing back here

Best Regards - Chloe.
