Question GPU’s

Part 1

Are there different types of GPU’s for different amounts of graphics memory and clock speed. For example if a company like ASUS wanted to use a GeForce 4 and pair it up with 64Mb of memory, and then wanted to make the same card with 128Mb of memory would they use the same GPU or would they have to go to NVIDIA and ask for a version of the GeForce 4 GPU that supports 128Mb of memory.

Part 2

Now lets just take this one step further. Do GPU’s have a maximum memory speed, just like the CPU’s do (FSB). If so, what would happen if say the GPU had a memory bus speed of 500MHz, but ASUS wanted to place memory that was only rated at 350MHz.

Those are interesting questions I'd too like to know the answers to.
